"OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon builds power for Environmental Justice and Civil Rights, achieving a safe and healthy environment in the places we live, work, learn, pray, and play. Portland Public School students, 45% of whom are students of color, don't have access to clean and safe classrooms free of lead, asbestos, and radon. We encourage Portland to support racial and social justice advocates and vote YES on Measure 26-193. Together we can ensure PPS students have a chance at a quality public education free from environmental health hazards."
- Huy Ong, Executive Director
OPAL joins social and environmental justice organizations including Latino Network, NAYA Youth and Family Center, Hacienda CDC, Black Parent Initiative, the Oregon League of Conservation Voters, Oregon Environmental Council and more in endorsing the Safe and Healthy Schools Campaign.
